The analysis presented here concentrates on the blocks listed in the building block inventory <em>IG <\/em>1&sup3;&nbsp;474 from the Athenian Acropolis: a comparative study of the inscriptional and archaeological evidence shows that the catalogued blocks are all related to the completion of the Erechtheion; therefore, the inscription cannot be used in the argument that the Old Temple of Athena, or the D&ouml;rpfeld temple, was not completely pulled down after the Persian sack of the Acropolis.
