Nicholas Cahill studies the archaeology of Greece, the Near East, and particularly Anatolia, and is interested in cultural relationships between the Mediterranean and Near East during the Iron Age; Greek and Near Eastern urbanism; and the archaeology of households. He has excavated at Sardis since 1979 and has been director of the expedition since 2008. He received his B.A. from the University of Michigan and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
