John J. Dobbins is a professor of classical art and archaeology in the McIntire Department of Art at the University of Virginia and is the director of the Pompeii Forum Project. He has been a regular member of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens and is the president of the Charlottesville Society of the Archaeological Institute of America.
