He completed an M.A. and Ph.D. in archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology, Hebrew University of Jerusalem and has worked as an area supervisor for the excavations at Khirbet Qeiyafa and the Fourth Expedition to Lachish. His research focuses on pottery typology of the Iron Age and reconstruction of the history of ancient Israel.
