Gwanghyun Choi studied theology at Yonsei University in Korea completing his B.A. and Th.M. degrees. He obtained both an M.A. and Ph.D. from the Institute of Archaeology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Since then, he has lectured in biblical archaeology and history at several academic institutions in Korea. Choi contributed to the excavation reports on Khirbet Qeiyafa and Tell Jemmeh. In 2014 he joined the Fourth Expedition to Lachish as a staff member.
